Basemed held its first Vein Ablation seminar at National Kidney Institute (NKTI) July 2, 201. It was an honor for Basemed and NKTI as the seminar was facilitated by Dr Sriram Narayanan (Dr. Ram). Dr Ram is a general surgeon practicing at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals in Singapore. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in UK. He subspecializes in vascular surgery, which involves treating diseases of the arteries, veins and lymphatic system. His clinical expertise includes vascular repairs for chest and abdominal aneurysms (swelling of artery), revascularization (restoration of blood flow) for diabetic and non-diabetic peripheral vascular disease, dialysis access surgery (to filter blood in diabetics), removing blockages in the carotid artery for stroke prevention and advanced wound care.
Dr. Ram also shared the study and practice of his colleague in UK, Dr. Mark Whiteley on Microwave Ablation. Dr. Whiteley owns and operates the Whitely Clinic which is the leading Vein Clinic for Varicose Vein treatment and research. The seminar also shares Whiteley’s study on the proven superiority of Microwave Ablation over the older technology – Radio Frequency Ablation in terms of efficiency, safety, time and ease of use. Basemed is carrying Eco Microwave Vein Ablation System which is now used around the world replacing the older RFA System.
